Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming part of the ordinary tools of life and ministry. Along with its usefulness come important questions about faithfulness, authenticity, responsibility, and what kinds of work pastors should and should not entrust to technology.
We thought this recent conversation from Expositors Collective, a ministry of the Calvary Chapel Cooperative, was tremendously valuable and worth sharing with our churches.
In “AI Ethics, Christian Ministry and Ambient Automation,” Mike Neglia talks with pastor, theologian, and AI developer Miles DeBenedictis about how pastors can think carefully and biblically about AI. Their conversation touches on its use in preaching and ministry, the ethical questions surrounding authorship and disclosure, the opportunities created by new tools, the dangers of outsourcing work that properly belongs to the pastor, and the deeper theological questions raised by artificial intelligence.
Rather than trying to settle every question, the conversation provides a helpful framework for thinking about a technology that is developing quickly and will increasingly affect the way we live and minister. We believe it is well worth the time and encourage pastors and ministry leaders throughout the Cooperative to listen.
